Jan Carpenter
I established Turn Over A New L.E.A.F.® in 2018. I did so as an outcome and recovery from my own stress related emotional, physical and social wellbeing issues. I am aware that my own trauma back story weakened my resilience as a Social Worker so much so that I joined the many that leave the profession, after 10 years... I returned deeply committed to my own wellbeing and the wellbeing of others.
My Story
Having experienced change and trauma as a child and teen I found that while it gave me a platform to uncover my why for the profession i went into, unkowingly my inner landscape was setting the scene for toxic resilience. My customers were gaining from my well meaning but my health and wellbeing was suffering. This was win lose not win win.
My childhood experiences also set the scene for becoming paid carer from a young age, understanding first-hand the realities of care work, latter becoming a young Social Worker and supervisory Social Worker and eventually a manager, consequently I understand leadership strain, burnout risk, and organisational complexity impacting on these — and I seek to bring calm, customer service, clarity and nervous system awareness to environments where people are expected to perform while carrying emotional load.
Becoming a certified Personal Performance Coach was part of my escape, recovery and passion as was becoming certified Havening Techniques® Practitioner and Trainer. As Team Manager, with over 25 years’ experience across statutory adult Social Work practice, supervision, and leadership in complex social care systems. My approach bridges operational management with human-centred leadership. A balance of Performance, Quality and Wellbeing is my quest.
Having escaped from my profession for self preservation reasons, after 10 years of practice, I returned 3 years later, having realised how much this role meant to me, I was determined to find a way to sustain it with well-being and over time i realised that my message was an important one to share with other professionals and that is what i did one workshop at a time.
My recovery and my work is informed by neuroscience, wellbeing, trauma-informed practices, coaching positive psychology, NLP, DiSC, and years of delivering reflective, practical workshops to professionals working under sustained pressure.
